Children’s Dentistry

When it comes to children, it is very important to set an oral hygiene routine at an early age to prevent future dental problems. That’s why we encourage you to bring your little ones to visit us as soon as they have their first tooth.

At London Heritage Dental clinic in SW Calgary, we make children’s dental visits fun so they can learn about oral health without being intimidated. With top of the line equipment and a full range of gentle dental services for kids, London Heritage Dental is an ideal choice for children of all ages.

What happens during my child’s first visit to the dentist?

The first visit is usually short and simple. In most cases the focus is on getting to know your son or daughter and giving you some basic information about dental care. Dr. Lekhi will check your child’s teeth for placement and health, and will look for any potential problems with the gums and jaw.

Proper Oral Hygiene for your Child

Good oral hygiene is important for dental patients of all ages, but especially for children. With the support from parents, kids can take charge of their oral care to establish healthy habits for life.

Brushing Tips & Techniques

With the correct toothbrush held at a 45-degree angle to the gum line, brushing should be done on all sides of the teeth in a gentle, circular motion. Teeth should be brushed at least two times a day.

Flossing Tips & Techniques

Flossing on a daily basis is essential for getting rid of the food particles that brushing alone may be unable to reach. Slip the floss between each tooth in a C-shaped motion, and move it up and down, making sure to get under and around the gums.
